Sometimes the best version of yourself lives within the world that you create and not the world that you inhabit. Live within the frame of your mind and showcase your brilliance to the outer world. Show the world your talent and your hunger. Appreciate the ones who love your work and appreciate those who love you, because you love who you are within your work.

Documenting Our Process
HER Rituals
Created by: The House of June
Rituals is an in-depth look at the routines, practices, and space black women in film implore before and during a shoot. It briefly examines the thought processes, actions and intentions of artists of color with hopes to highlight our different experiences and mental space as creatives on and offset. These artists are the members of House of June, an independent art film house based in Atlanta, GA formed by Ebony Blanding and Amber L.N. Bournett. Using rituals and curating spaces for transparency in hopes that our work is understood and our artistic style documented.

There is something to be said about creating visuals in a matter of moments. When minutes before the shoot you are lost in an editing session, or building a set because you have been taught to be a jack of all trades. There's something to be said about watching women and men of color perform songs they listened to a million times and give it the same energy as if it was their first hit record. It is the freedom that does it for me, I love to watch it unfold. The ability to find a safe haven in a production studio with fellow black creatives, from all walks of life, create intentionally, and inspire outwardly. Most times we will see our brother and sisters in the arts and speculate what brought them to this moment, but not for long. We all know, too well, the cost of success and how badly we want to get there. Our sets are inclusive of all; women and men of all ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, and etc. The world is a scary place and on the west side of Atlanta, we find a place called the House of Shoots were celebrities and upcoming artists come to create visual stories; and my job? Oh, I have the pleasure of building the set, setting the lights, assisting the director, working in art, photographing the experiences for the artist, and when it's over, editing the video.
You'll never know love until you see people performing freely and confidently. I know I sure didn't. Enjoy this ride and look at the images if you would like. Most videos are posted on my social media, but you can also find the released videos on youtube and world star hip-hop. Some images may contain risky clothing but they are well into the see more section.
